A Memorable Stay at Chobe Safari Lodge
For our third safari leg in Botswana, we picked the Chobe Safari Lodge for our stay. This property is located in Kasane on the banks of the Chobe River, home to the largest elephant population in the world. One of the largest rivers in this region, it shares a border with Chobe National Park. At the lodge’s entrance, you’ll also find the meeting point of four African countries: Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Isn’t that exciting?

Location, Location, Location!
This is a huge property with traditional thatched roofs, set among the lush greenery of the river. The best part is its location—within just 10 minutes of Chobe National Park. Since it’s close to the road border to Zimbabwe as well as the airport, Chobe Safari Lodge is an excellent place to stay if you are combining two or more countries during your trip.
Lounge and Pool Areas
As soon as we entered the lodge, we were welcomed by a massive reception area with a dining space, a bar, and a lounge decorated with hints of African architecture, from the cushions to the wall art. The high ceilings and wooden decor give the space a relaxed and inviting vibe.
On the lower level is a swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers where you can relax between activities. A terrace leads down to the boating station, offering incredible views across the river to Namibia.
We particularly loved the sunset from the pool area—with Pumba for company.

Rooms at Chobe Safari Lodge
The River Rooms are big, comfortable, and offer outstanding views of the Chobe River. All rooms come equipped with TV, WiFi, and air conditioning. We loved the light ethnic colors and the wide garden space just outside.
Activities and Safari Experiences
Chobe National Park is home to hundreds of animal species and over 3,000 species of birds. It’s truly a paradise for photographers and wildlife lovers. Since the lodge sits right on the river, you can even be picked up for a Chobe River boat safari directly from the property. This was, without doubt, the highlight of our trip to Botswana.
If you haven’t pre-booked activities, don’t worry—Chobe Safari Lodge offers plenty of options, including traditional boat cruises and land safaris in a 4x4 vehicle into the national park. The concierge team are always available to help plan and guide you.
Planning to hop across borders to Zimbabwe or Namibia? The lodge can arrange that too.
Dining at Chobe Safari Lodge
Breakfast
The breakfast spread was surprisingly large, with a full English breakfast, plenty of meat options, and a variety of vegetarian choices for us. From hot beans, toast, and cereal to fresh fruits and flavored yogurt, the buffet had something for everyone.

Dinner
For dinner, we often opted for the buffet, priced at around $27 per person. It featured salads, soup, a live noodle station, seafood, local delicacies, Indian curries, and indulgent desserts.
One of the highlights was watching local dancers from nearby villages perform while we enjoyed our meal—a truly unforgettable experience.

Final Thoughts
We loved the proximity of the resort to Chobe National Park, which made multiple safaris easy to plan in a single day. After long game drives, this lodge was the perfect spot for a sundowner—watching the sunset, drink in hand, with amazing company.
Botswana is often considered an expensive safari destination, given its strong focus on sustainability and conservation. That’s why Chobe Safari Lodge stands out—it offers excellent value for money without compromising on comfort, safety, or game drive opportunities, both on land and on the river.
If you’re looking for a well-located, value-for-money safari lodge in Botswana, this property is the ideal choice.
